You have decided to on a halter-calf, beef project in 4-H or FFA. Now, then, you need a place to keep you show cattle. So, what are some things to keep in mind when deciding if you have access to a satisfactory lot and shed?
The satisfactory shed or barn should provide a dry, out-of-the-wind shelter during the winter months. In the summer, the shelter should allow for a natural air flow to cool the pen. Doors or gates that allow for mechanical bedding of the shed and for easier manure removal in both the shed and lot are other necessities, unless you enjoy hard, time-consuming physical labor.
